The story of Extant centers around Molly Woods (Halle Berry), an astronaut with ISEA (International Space Exploration Agency) who returns home from a 13-month-long solo mission aboard space station Seraphim. She returns to her husband John (Goran Visnjic), a robotics engineer who created their son Ethan, a prototype android called a “humanich”. What happens is, she quickly finds out that she has returned home mysteriously pregnant and begins a search for answers. This search ends up turning her own organization and certain people against her in a plot to retrieve this mysterious “offspring” she is carrying.
