Een groep ambitieuze ontdekkingsreizigers hoopt in de Afrikaanse jungle een waterdier te vinden, waarvan de oorsprong voortkomt uit de mythe en fantasie van de inheemse bevolking. Het hoofd van de expeditie, een Indiana Jones lookalike, ziet zijn expeditie echter in duigen vallen als hij met zijn helikopter neerstort door een enorme hoeveelheid vogels - die verdacht veel op dinosauriërs lijken. Daarnaast blijkt dat hij ook nog een verstekeling aan boord heeft: zijn zoon Luke. Met een arsenaal aan opname-apparatuur om het project vast te leggen, komen ze er al snel achter dat het niet pluis is in de jungle...
